Scenario
In the winter of 1862, during the Civil War
The army sends a volunteer company to patrol the uncharted western territories. Minervini had a set built in Montana and then left the cast to live there for two months.
"The Damned" is a completely boring film
The dialogue and thoughts expressed are those that the actors came up with while living in the wilderness, imagining themselves as soldiers in the Civil War. It feels like someone made a home video on a phone or an old camcorder.
All in all, it’s a complete waste of time
While the landscapes are beautiful, the soldiers just wander around doing nothing. The changing seasons and snowfall add little to the experience.
I thought the directors and filmmakers were famous, but I’d never heard of them
You’d be better off watching traffic jams from your window in a big city – far more entertaining than this film. It seems like the most famous filmmakers are making films for intercultural audiences, not for average people like me.
