Andy: The solution for a claustrophobic astronaut is to give him more space
Scenario
Exploring the depths of an abandoned space station, a group of young space colonists come across the most terrifying life form in the universe. Alien: Romulus stars Cailee Spaeny and Isabela Merced reveal why director Fede Alvarez used practical effects and animatronic xenomorphs to terrorize his cast. Director Fede Alvarez approached the special effects team from Αλιενς: Η παραστέρων (1986) to work on the creatures. Physical scenery, practical creatures and miniatures were used wherever possible to aid the visual effects work later on. When Rain turns off the ship’s gravity and shoots all the aliens, all their blood hangs in the air in long, blurry patterns. Zero gravity in reality causes liquids to form spheres rather than long, flat pieces like in the movie. The 20th Century Studios fanfare freezes and becomes menacing, as in Αλιεν³:Η προντα αναμετραι (1992), which leads into the film’s opening scene.
okay, I guess?
The logo itself will undergo a static burst and turn green. Featured on Nerdrotic: The Acolyte: Force is Female CONFIRMED? The Death of Theaters – The Real BBC @MauLer @HeelvsBabyface (2024). Theme from Alien Written by Jerry Goldsmith. A few hours after leaving the cinema and I don’t know what to do with it. That was… It seemed that Fedy Alvarez carefully examined the making of all the previous films, and the ideas that remained from them were finally thrown on the screen, along with the key components of the franchise.
Been there, done that
It has episodes from the Alien, Aliens, Resurrection and Prometheus/Covenant series. For fans of the series, there are subtle and not-so-subtle Easter eggs every few minutes, from sound effects to reused dialogue. The plot is very simple, as it should be. A group of people exploring a space station. However, I really liked the temperature and gravity in this movie, you couldn’t see them very much in this universe. And there was a lot of fear. I’m not usually a fan of them, but this time they worked out well.
The world is great
The two main characters were very good, the rest were quite forgettable. And I don’t know what to do with an acting role beyond the grave… Forget the sleek, clean world of Prometheus, this is a throwback to the ugly retro futuristic stuff of the 70s. Aesthetic if you like that look. Ultimately, though, this franchise doesn’t seem like it has anywhere to go story-wise. I wouldn’t say it’s artistically bankrupt, but it’s close. While this film perfectly connected the "proper" and Prometheus’ new detour, it’s hard to imagine what else could be done with this creature.
More independent films?
Almost all the mystery has been taken out of Xenomorph. I wonder if you have anything else to do with this creature? Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are the essence of science fiction.
